Hidden Valley Wines: A fusion of innovation and great wine
Hidden Valley Wines is a hidden gem in the Stellenbosch region of the Cape Winelands. True to its name, it snugly rests in the hills at the end of a long, narrow drive. The winery, with its cutting-edge gravity-fed cellar, is a gorgeous blend of stone, wood, and glass. This beautiful contemporary design is eye-catching and sets the tone for a great wine tasting experience.
Hidden Valley’s commitment to conservation
Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, almond orchards and fynbos gardens, Hidden Valley is dedicated to conservation. Recognized as a WWF Conservation Champion, they actively contribute to preserving their natural surroundings. This is evidenced through their nature walks, eco-friendly farming methods and even a recycling worm farm.
The tale of Hidden Valley
Hidden Valley’s story began when Dave Hidden fell in love with the land during his university days. He subsequently planted the first vineyards in 2002. Over time, Dave shaped Hidden Valley into what it is today. However, in 2015, he decided to sell, passing the reins to Riaan Stassen. Under Riaan’s care, Hidden Valley then entered a new phase. He added his own touches by bringing in art, like the life-sized face sculpture created by sculptor Willie Botha. Now, this iconic face is not just on wine labels but also in various garden artworks, adding an artistic flair to Hidden Valley.
Billionaire Patrice Motsepe’s recent acquisition of Hidden Valley Wines brings optimistic developments for the estate, as he actively pursues the promotion of the wines to collectors and enthusiasts.
