Haute Cabriere Wine Tasting in the Franschhoek Valley

Established in 1694 by the French Huguenot Pierre Jourdan, Haute Cabriere wine estate overlooks the picturesque Franschhoek Valley from its perch on a beautiful mountainside. Renowned for its dedication to crafting outstanding Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wines and still wines, this impressive estate has been under the stewardship of the von Arnim family since the 1980s. They consistently produce high-quality wines using traditional grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We had an amazing time Haute Cabriere Wine Tasting, and the gorgeous views made the experience even more special!

Wine Tasting at Haute Cabriere

The wine tasting room at Haute Cabrière is really cool and different. Carved into the mountainside, this expansive underground space resembles a large cave.

Inside the tasting room, there’s plenty of space and classy decor. I liked the unique touches everywhere, and the tables were also set up in a way that felt private.

The estate produces two excellent ranges, the Haute Cabriere range of still wines and the Pierre Jourdan range of Cap Classique wines. There are currently (01.2024) 4 tastings to choose from. During our tasting, we also ordered pasteis de nata from the Estates bakery. By the way, the bakery is famous for its artisanal bread and pastries. Even though there aren’t many options, everything is incredibly flaky and delicious!
