5. Yellowwood forest market

Yellowwood Forest Market offers a relaxed atmosphere under the shade of towering trees, making it a great place to pick up local goodies and enjoy delicious treats. Craft Markets are held on the first Saturday of each month, with extra events during holidays and the festive season. Every Saturday morning, Yellowwood also hosts a smaller Forest Fare where you can find freshly baked bread, vegetables, preserves, pasta, smoked meats, homemade treats, and quality second-hand books. The family-friendly vibe, beautiful forest setting, and live music make for a lovely visit.

Additionally, there’s a short trail starting at the giant Yellowwood tree at the end of the Campsite. This 700m walk through the forest leads you past a quaint fairy grotto to a large ‘wishing fig tree.’ Sit inside the trunk and make a wish before following the path back past the swamp to your starting point. The trail is safe and perfect for everyone, especially families with young children.

6. The Pink Lady Cafe

The Pink Lady Café is a fun place to visit in Morgan Bay. Located on the edge of town, this small coffee shop has great views of the hills and everything is decorated in a delightful pink. They serve tasty teas and cakes, especially the carrot cake, and everything is just so wonderfully charming. The small shop inside has a range of items like jams, chutneys, soaps, baked goods, clothes, and key charms. Be sure to bring a shopping bag because you’ll want to take home some of these lovely goodies.

7. Sunrise over the ocean

There’s nothing quite like the magic of a Morgan Bay sunrise. Start your day with a breathtaking sunrise over the Indian Ocean. Head to the beach early in the morning or, even better, head up the cliff path trail to the first lookout bench. Trust me – you don’t want to miss a sunrise here.

Tip #1: Morgan Bay’s official tourism website notes that fishing licenses can be hard to find. They recommend getting a license at St. Anthony’s Store, which is 31km from Morgan Bay, located on the main tar road between the N2 and Morgan Bay, just opposite the Haga Haga turnoff.

Tip #2: Local shops have a limited selection of bait and tackle, so make sure you bring enough. Alternatively, you can also get bait at the SaveMor in Kei Mouth. For fishing tackle, your best bet is probably Kei Mouth SaveMor or Kei Mouth Hardware.
