Wine, Warmth and Wags: A Special Day at Camberley Wine Estate

In the beautiful landscapes of Stellenbosch, South Africa, lies Camberley Wine Estate. This small, family-run estate prides itself in a homely, intimate feel. The winery started as a hobby fueled by the winemaker’s love for wine and eventually became a full-time job. After trying out wines from all around the region and visiting the major players in the industry, Camberley is a standout. It brings a wonderfully warm and welcoming touch, not to mention some of the best red wines I’ve come across so far.

To visit Camberley Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, you have a couple of options:

Take the Navy Line on the Franschhoek Wine Tram tour.
If you’re driving yourself, simply head to Stellenbosch. Use google maps or keep an eye out for the Camberley Wines sign along the road.

The Tasting experience at Camberley Wine Estate

At Camberley Wine Estate, tasting their wines is a special experience that you just don’t get at some of the bigger and well-known estates in the area. The tastings are friendly and down-to-earth. You can pick between the indoor tasting room or the lovely outdoor patio area. No matter where you choose, though, it’s a small and personal setting, just right for enjoying the special flavors of Camberley’s wines.

During our visit to Camberley, we really enjoyed the Executive Tasting. It includes a great mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of Merlot/Cab Sav, and a unique South African Pinotage, a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault grapes. Plus, to go along with the wine, there are some tasty light snacks and a small cheese platter for two.

The pretty little rose garden is so lovely, too! We grabbed our glasses and had a look around at the flowers. It’s also a great spot to snap some photos, especially with the mountains as a backdrop.

Did I mention that you get to enjoy your wine with furry friends, too, at Camberley?

If you’re into wine and love dogs, Camberley is the perfect place for you! Their dogs are not only gorgeous but also really friendly. It was wonderful having them join us during our wine tasting – added a whole lot of fun to the experience!

As our wine tasting came to an end, we knew Camberley would be a place to return to. What makes Camberley really special is that it maintains an intimate atmosphere while consistently crafting top-notch wine. Whether you’re after a great bottle of red or just looking for a pleasant outing, a visit to Camberley is a must. The warm vibes, friendly faces, and, of course, the fantastic wines make it totally worth the trip!
