Nautical Beach Cottage is truly a hidden gem in Kei Mouth, a small seaside village in South Africa’s Wild Coast. Set amidst a beautiful garden and only a short walk from the beach, this fantastic Kei Mouth Self-catering accommodation instantly stole our hearts during our stay.

Nautical Beach Cottage – the living room and kitchen

As we stepped into the cottage, we immediately felt the comforting familiarity of a home away from home. The kitchen was fully kitted out with everything we needed for whipping up our own meals, including a microwave, stove, fridge, and toaster. I quickly noticed a container of rusks on the counter (yum – my addicition, I admit!). I thought that was a nice thoughtful touch that made the cottage feel even more warm and homely.

The cottage has a chill coastal vibe with beachy decorations. The living room is decked out in sea-inspired colors like navy blue, white, and sandy beige. Lovely coastal art hangs on the walls. We enjoyed flipping through books and pamphlets about Kei Mouth that were laid out on the coffee table, helping us plan our days easily.

Nautical Beach Cottage – the bedrooms

The first bedroom has a big queen-size bed, and the second one has two single beds. We found a nice surprise in the room – a bit of lavender and a small chocolate on our pillows. Large bath towels were neatly folded at the end of the bed. Besides all the stuff we needed, the bed was really comfy and everything in the room was super clean. Both rooms share a bathroom with a shower and toilet.

The living space extends to a veranda with a built-in braai area and Weber grill. The hosts supplied everything we needed for a fantastic barbecue, which was super convenient.

Not only does Kei Mouth offer a breathtaking night sky, but the surroundings of the cottage are wonderfully peaceful. We passed hours sipping wine and admiring the stars, a perfect conclusion to our fantastic stay at Nautical Beach Cottage.

More than just a place to stay….

Perhaps most importantly though, the hosts’ genuine hospitality and warmth made our stay even more memorable. From the moment we arrived, Cheryl went above and beyond to ensure that we felt welcome and comfortable. Both Cheryl and her husband Ian took the time to sit down with us and offer valuable insights and recommendations on things to see and do in the area.
