Oppieplaas Country Estate: A top choice in Haga-Haga
OppiePlaas Country Estate is located within 2km of Haga-Haga beach along South Africa’s Wild Coast in the Eastern Cape Province.
Even though it’s not right on the beachfront, there are still amazing views and it’s beautifully quiet and peaceful there. The accommodation options at Oppieplaas include self-catering, bed & breakfast, and campsite facilities. The charming family-owned pub and restaurant on site also serves wonderful home-cooked meals and is a popular choice of a place to eat in the region.
Hadedah Country Studio at Oppieplaas
We stayed at the modern and stylish Hadedah cottage. The room is tastefully decorated with a comfortable lounge area and a well equipped kitchen. The gas stove in the kitchen proved particularly advantageous, especially during South Africa’s regular electrical power outs known as ‘Load Shedding.’ The kitchen had everything we needed for a short stay, including a complimentary coffee and tea station.
I absolutely loved the clean, modern look of the inside of Hadedah Studio. However, it was the patio and braai area that really got my attention. The outdoor patio has a braai, table and chairs. From your doorstep, you can enjoy views over the nearby game reserve. This gave us the chance to spot giraffes, especially during the early morning hours. Unfortunately, we weren’t so lucky this time, but the host told us they do venture to this area occasionally.
After spending the day walking the shoreline of the Haga-Haga region, we returned to Oppieplaas. I couldn’t imagine a prettier scene to come back to, as the sun sets on the day, creating a brilliant mix of colors in the sky.
Relaxing on the patio with a braai, surrounded by the sounds of nature, felt truly special. To make the evening even better, I couldn’t resist savoring a glass of Warwick Estate’s red wine at Oppieplaas. It was the perfect touch to a an already beautiful evening.
In conclusion, OppiePlaas Country Estate in Haga-Haga offers an unforgettable experience along South Africa’s Wild Coast. Despite not being right on the beachfront, the serene and picturesque surroundings make for a peaceful stay. The accommodation options, including the modern and stylish Hadedah cottage, provide comfort and convenience, with the well-equipped kitchen being a real advantage during power outages. One of the perks is the patio area, where you can braai, relax and enjoy the beauty of the nearby game reserve. With its warm hospitality, pretty views, and convenient amenities, OppiePlaas is undeniably a hidden gem worth visiting for a memorable getaway.
